It was easy to assemble the pieces - I worked from the top, as per the instructions. There was extra cable, but this could be easily pulled through the exit point at the base of the lamp. Of note: on arrival, the "arms" of the lamp were facing in the same direction, but my friend realised they had to be manually adjusted to the correct orientations. The lamp looks terrific. The cable and foot switch are clear and very unobtrusive - they hardly show in the images in the listing. The maximum wattage for the LED capsule bulb is 3w, and I found that 2.2w provided good illumination for erotetics (the lamp is by my bedside).
